Job summary

Edwards, a leading developer and manufacturer of sophisticated vacuum products and exhaust management systems, invites an Operational Buyer (Temporary) to join the Bristol team on a hybrid basis. You will manage day‑to‑day procurement for a supplier portfolio, collaborating with Engineering, Planning, Production and Quality to ensure on‑time delivery, cost and quality targets in a demanding environment.

The role reports to the Senior Buyer and focuses on MRP-driven purchasing, supplier

Qualifications

• 2–3 years' experience in procurement or purchasing.
• Experience within a complex engineering or manufacturing environment.
• CIPS Level 4 or equivalent qualification or procurement experience.
• Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) sourcing.

Responsibilities

• Raise purchase orders through various methods and procurement channels.
• React to MRP system messages, including expediting, deferring and cancelling open order lines.
• Issue RFQs, manage drawing releases, analyse supplier quotations and establish new part replenishment profiles.
• Resolve issues relating to delivery accuracy, quality rejects, invoice queries, overdue orders and production shortages.
• Monitor and improve supplier performance against delivery, cost and quality objectives.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities through benchmarking, value engineering and optimisation of replenishment methods.
• Work with Engineering to manage obsolete and replacement parts.
• Raise temporary permits, concessions and engineering changes where required.
• Develop relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
• Support sourcing activity for New Product Introduction and continuous improvement projects.
