Job summary

Walsall Council is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join its Complex Occupational Therapy Team on an interim basis. The role focuses on supporting young adults, individuals with learning disabilities, and children needing specialist OT interventions, delivering high-quality, person-centred services.

The post is hybrid with 2 days in the office, 37 hours per week, and the hours are 08:45 to 17:15. This interim contract requires HCPC registration and a full UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist.
• Experience in social care settings.
• Knowledge of occupational therapy assessments, equipment, adaptations and rehabilitation.
• Experience with learning disabilities, mental health needs, young adults and children.
• Strong safeguarding knowledge and practice.

Responsibilities

• Undertake comprehensive occupational therapy assessments across adults, children and carers.
• Apply strengths-based practice to promote independence, choice and control.
• Develop and implement intervention plans and recommendations.
• Work in line with legislation, standards and local authority policies.
• Complete safeguarding duties to protect children and adults with care and support needs.
• Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and partner agencies.
• Maintain accurate case recordings and reports.
