Job summary

West Yorkshire Fire And Rescue Service is seeking an Occupational Health Technician on a 12-month fixed-term contract. You will support health services for around 950 firefighters and 400 staff, performing health assessments, maintaining equipment and assisting with referrals.

A flexible 37-hour week with hybrid working is offered, along with a range of wellbeing benefits. Applicants should have healthcare support experience, strong IT skills, and a willingness to travel across West Yorkshire.

Qualifications

• You must hold Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy (or equivalent) for the role.
• Experience in healthcare support roles such as Healthcare Assistant or Health Screening Technician.
• Good communication skills and ability to work with diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of occupational health services across the organisation.
• Carry out baseline and periodic health assessments for firefighters and staff.
• Maintain health screening equipment through routine maintenance and calibration.
• Refer to Occupational Health Advisors or Physicians when needed.
• Provide administrative, clinical and reception support to ensure smooth unit operation.
• Keep accurate records and assist with data management and health promotion activities.
