Job summary

HCA UK is seeking an experienced Medical Secretary to join our Float Team across the Harley Street Clinic and Princess Grace Hospital in London. This full-time role (37.5 hours/week) offers hybrid working after a 3-month probation, with a fixed-term contract until 31 December 2027.

You will coordinate patient pathways, manage clinics and provide high-quality administrative support, covering multiple consultant practices and specialties within the independent healthcare sector.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Medical Secretary in a busy clinical environment.
• Ability to support consultants across multiple specialties.
• Strong typing and confidentiality when handling sensitive documentation.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative and secretarial support to the consultant with audio-typing of clinical and non-clinical documents.
• Coordinate patient journeys from initial consultation through investigation, treatment and procedures.
• Prepare clinics ensuring relevant docs, imaging, results and records are available.
• Manage patient enquiries, inboxes and calls with a professional, responsive service.
• Arrange admissions and investigations, escalate urgent findings when needed.
• Process clinic outcomes and follow-up actions, including further tests or procedures.
• Prepare, distribute and manage dictated letters and clinical correspondence on timescales.
• Undertake additional admin duties to support the consultant's practice and patient experience.
