Job summary

g2 Recruitment is seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator for data centre and critical infrastructure projects in Stevenage. The role involves preparing cost estimates, conducting quantity take-offs from drawings, reviewing tender documentation, and developing competitive pricing for large-scale mechanical building services.

Qualifications

• Experience preparing detailed mechanical cost estimates for large projects.
• Ability to interpret complex drawings and technical specifications.
• Experience with data centre or critical infrastructure projects is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed mechanical cost estimates for large-scale projects.
• Take-off quantities from drawings and specifications.
• Review drawings, tender documents and scope to establish costs.
• Develop competitive tender pricing ensuring accuracy and viability.
• Estimate packages for HVAC, chilled water systems, cooling infra and pipework.
• Identify commercial risks, variations and cost optimisations.
• Liaise with engineering, commercial and delivery teams for accurate bids.
• Support tender reviews and bid submissions within deadlines.
• Interpret complex drawings and technical docs for major developments.
• Contribute to improving estimating processes and tender strategies.
