Job summary

Babcock is offering a Mechanical Engineering Undergraduate Placement Year in Bristol. You will rotate through the Submarine Support Engineering team, contributing to maintenance, design, and performance modelling tasks across real-world submarine projects.

Based in Bristol with hybrid working options, you’ll work alongside engineers and gain hands-on experience with tools like Autodesk, Ansys, Python and MATLAB.

Qualifications

• Must be an undergraduate studying Mechanical Engineering.
• Security clearance BPSS and SC required where applicable.
• UK national status may be required by law.

Responsibilities

• Rotate placements within SSE to gain exposure to mechanical engineering challenges.
• Contribute to system performance modelling, maintenance optimisations, and design tasks.
• Assist with submarine component design and use engineering tools/software.
