Job summary

Cavendish Nuclear, a wholly owned subsidiary of Babcock International Group, offers a Mechanical Engineering Undergraduate placement within the Submarine Support Engineering team. You’ll rotate through SSE placements, tackling system performance modelling, maintenance optimisation, and submarine component design.

You’ll use Autodesk, Ansys, Python, and MATLAB, collaborating with experienced engineers and stakeholders to gain real-world experience on current and future submarine projects.

Qualifications

• Must be an undergraduate studying a mechanical engineering degree.
• BPSS and Security Check (SC) clearance required where applicable.
• UK national status may be required under national security legislation.

Responsibilities

• Rotate through SSE placements across the year to gain exposure to different mechanical engineering disciplines.
• Contribute to system performance modelling and analysis, maintenance optimisations, and engineering design for submarines.
• Use engineering tools and software (e.g. Autodesk, Ansys, Python, MATLAB) to support projects and stakeholders.
• Participate in waterfront production and manufacture activities where relevant for project delivery.
