Job summary

Cavendish Nuclear is offering a Mechanical Engineering Undergraduate Placement Year in Leicester. You’ll contribute to the design, assessment and delivery of mechanical systems for major national infrastructure projects, with exposure to nuclear safety standards.

You will gain hands-on experience in calculations, documentation and safety case development while working with multidisciplinary teams. There is a path toward professional registration after graduation and a hybrid working model.

Qualifications

• Must be studying an engineering degree in Mechanical, Structural, Materials, Motorsport, Mechatronics or Engine Systems.
• Degree accreditation by the relevant institution is preferred.
• Security clearance BPSS and Security Check (SC) may be required; see GOV.UK for details.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design, assessment and delivery of mechanical systems.
• Support engineering calculations and review technical documentation.
• Assist with design substantiation and safety case development.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on project delivery and potential equipment upgrades.
• Gain exposure to industry standards and nuclear safety requirements.
