Job summary

WGM Engineering Ltd, part of the RSK Group, is seeking a Managing Quantity Surveyor in Glasgow with hybrid working. You will support UK water-sector projects, manage a team, and drive profitability across contracts.

You will lead commercial activities, forecast costs and changes, and provide strategic commercial guidance to senior management to ensure on-budget delivery and compliant processes.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified or professional qualification accredited by RICS or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience in managing, mentoring and developing teams with a focus on performance.
• Highly competent in MS Excel and Word.
• Ability to interpret and understand contract documents, scopes of works and contract drawings.
• Skilled in financial cost control, value recovery and change management.
• Experience within the Construction and/or Engineering industry.
• Detailed working knowledge of NEC4 Conditions of Contract.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Experience supporting dispute avoidance.
• Ability to work to strict deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Provide commercial and contractual expertise to the business with a focus on risk mitigation and profit maximisation.
• Build and maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders including key clients contacts at senior level.
• Seek to minimize the cost of a project and enhance value for money whilst still achieving the required standards and quality.
• Prepare and manage cash flow forecasts.
• Contract and sub-contract management and administration, including certification of payment applications from subcontractors.
• Monitor all costs relating to a project from tender to final account stage.
• Management of Change Control including Early Warnings and Compensation Events.
