Job summary

Allstate NI, Allstate’s European Digital Centre of Excellence in Belfast, seeks a Managing Engineer for Data Security Engineering to lead data protection products and controls across DLP, discovery, and access governance. You will drive policy-as-code, automate testing, and mentor senior engineers in a cloud-first, product-driven environment.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software, data, or security engineering with ownership of production systems.
• 2+ years leading engineers while remaining actively engaged in technical design and reviews.
• Deep knowledge of data protection, including DLP, discovery/classification, and access controls.
• Cloud, SaaS, CASB, and enterprise data protection architectures understanding.
• Strong scripting/automation using Python, PowerShell, REST APIs, Terraform, YAML, JSON.
• Proven ability to build policy-as-code based security solutions and automated delivery pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead a high-performing team accountable for engineering data security products.
• Set technical direction and drive execution across architecture, design, and deployment.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership through code and solution design decisions.
• Guide capabilities across DLP Policy, Data Intelligence, or Data Access.
• Develop policy-as-code workflows, reusable control patterns, and automated testing.
• Automate control lifecycle activities including validation, drift detection, and health checks.
• Own reliability, adoption, and continuous improvement of the team’s products.
• Translate complex data security requirements into scalable technical solutions.
