Job summary

Outsource UK is recruiting a Principal Civil Engineer to join a leading consultancy delivering complex and high-profile projects across the UK. You will lead engineering activities from concept through to delivery, focusing on drainage, highways, utilities, earthworks and site development.

You will provide technical leadership within multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior engineers and ensure designs meet quality, safety and regulatory standards while engaging with clients and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status, or be working towards chartership.
• Strong experience in civil engineering and urban development design.
• Proven knowledge of surface water drainage, foul drainage, highways and utility infrastructure.
• Experience using MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage, AutoCAD Civil 3D and BIM processes.
• Good understanding of industry standards including SuDS, Sewers for Adoption, DMRB and Building Regulations.
• Project management experience, including planning, commercial awareness and client engagement.
• The ability to lead teams, manage workloads and develop junior engineers.
• Strong technical problem-solving skills with the ability to apply engineering principles effectively.

Responsibilities

• Leading civil engineering design activities across a range of development projects.
• Managing the production and review of drawings, BIM models, reports and technical specifications.
• Coordinating multidisciplinary design teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions.
• Overseeing project planning, resource allocation and programme management.
• Managing design risk, hazard logs, assumptions registers and design decision records.
• Attending and leading project meetings with clients and stakeholders.
• Providing technical guidance, leadership and mentorship to engineers, technicians and apprentices.
• Ensuring projects are delivered in line with quality, safety and engineering standards.
