Job summary

Wiltshire Council is seeking a Landscape Officer to review planning applications and provide expert landscape advice to ensure high-quality development across the county.

You will assess impacts on landscape character and visual amenity, contribute to planning policy and spatial planning, and support the design of major development projects. While primarily office-based, site visits are part of the role.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills and ability to explain complex landscape concepts to diverse audiences.
• Good understanding of landscape assessment and the planning system.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist, technical landscape advice to planning officers on applications.
• Assess landscape character and visual amenity impacts.
• Support planning policy and spatial planning work for major developments.
• Undertake site visits to assess proposals and gain frontline landscape knowledge.

Degree level qualification in landscape-related subject
