Job summary

Guidant Global, in partnership with Airbus, is recruiting a Landing Gear Design Engineer to join the Filton team. You will own early-stage 3D CAD modelling, perform kinematic assessments and manage spatial integration within a challenging aerospace environment.

Work closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to translate research concepts into practical 3D layouts and design principles for future programmes, with a hybrid working pattern and a 4.5-day week.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of hands-on experience with major parametric 3D CAD software.
• CATIA or 3DX design experience.
• Mechanical and structural design experience.
• Understanding of kinematics and digital mock-ups.
• Experience in spatial integration and packaging within restricted envelopes.
• Strong fundamentals in mechanics, materials, tolerances and manufacturing constraints.
• Ability to translate initial concepts into clear 3D layout options.
• Capacity to take a concept from brief to a completed 3D study with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Create and develop early-stage 3D CAD models and layouts.
• Lead spatial packaging, envelope and component allocation studies.
• Carry out kinematic assessments and develop digital mock-ups.
• Support active R&D projects with trade-off and feasibility assessments.
• Produce parametric 3D models, basic assemblies and technical docs.
• Translate project requirements into clear layout options and practical designs.
• Support the definition and application of design principles, standards and best practice.
• Collaborate with testing, manufacturing and systems teams to resolve interface conflicts.
• Evaluate design trade-offs under constraints.
• Present CAD concepts and updates to stakeholders.
