Job summary

Nigel Wright Group is seeking a Junior Data Engineer in Manchester to join a growing, technology-driven financial services organisation. You will build and maintain data platforms, pipelines and integrations using Python, APIs and Azure in a hybrid work setting.

The role offers hands-on experience with cloud data platforms, ETL development and reporting solutions, with a strong focus on learning and career progression within data engineering.

Qualifications

• Strong Python programming skills.
• Experience working with APIs and integrating data from multiple systems.
• Good understanding of SQL and relational databases.
• Familiarity with version control tools such as Git.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Proactive attitude and willingness to learn new technologies.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.

Responsibilities

• Building and maintaining Python-based integrations between internal and external systems.
• Developing, testing and supporting ETL and data transformation processes.
• Working with APIs to ingest and process data from multiple sources.
• Maintaining and enhancing data pipelines within the Azure environment.
• Writing and optimising SQL queries to support reporting and operational requirements.
• Monitoring data processes, identifying issues and implementing fixes.
• Supporting data quality, governance and security initiatives.
• Collaborating with business stakeholders to understand reporting and data requirements.
• Maintaining technical documentation and ensuring data processes are clearly documented.
• Contributing to the ongoing evolution of the organisation's cloud-based data platform.
