Job summary

Birchwell Associates is supporting a growing technology business in Manchester for a Data Engineer. You will design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines, working with Python, SQL, and Azure data services to deliver reliable data platforms.

You will collaborate with software, analytics and cloud teams to improve data quality, enable better decision-making, and align with engineering best practices within a hybrid work model from Manchester.

Qualifications

• Commercial experience in data engineering or a closely related role.
• Strong Python and SQL skills.
• Experience with Azure data services or a comparable cloud platform.
• Knowledge of ETL or ELT pipelines, data modelling and warehouse concepts.
• Experience working with version control, testing and deployment processes.
• Clear communication and confidence working with technical and non-technical colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines using Python and SQL.
• Develop and improve data services within a Microsoft Azure environment.
• Integrate data from multiple internal and external sources.
• Improve data quality, reliability and monitoring across the platform.
• Work with analysts and stakeholders to understand reporting and data requirements.
• Contribute to technical standards, documentation and engineering best practice.
