Job summary

Basildon Borough Council is seeking an Interim Surveyor to undertake Voids and Aids and Adaptations surveys, initially on a 6-month basis, with hybrid working. The role sits in the Asset Investment team and focuses on inspecting empty properties and coordinating adaptations to support tenants' safety and independence.

Qualifications

• HND in Building Surveying or a related discipline.
• Membership of CIOB or RICS.
• IOSH or NEBOSH certificate in health & safety.
• Experience inspecting residential properties and specifying repair or refurbishment works.
• Experience assessing aids and adaptations requirements and feasibility.
• Ability to prepare accurate schedules of work and cost estimates.
• Experience monitoring contractors to ensure work meets specification and budget.

Responsibilities

• Undertake void inspections identifying repairs, defects and improvements.
• Specify and prepare schedules of work to meet lettable standards.
• Prioritise works based on property demand.
• Assess adaptations requirements and feasibility.
• Coordinate with residents, allocations team and contractors.
• Inspect completed adaptations to ensure compliance.
• Raise works orders and monitor costs and timelines.
• Ensure properties are ready for letting promptly.
