Job summary

Michael Page Legal is seeking an Interim Housing Lawyer for a not-for-profit based in High Wycombe. You will manage a mixed caseload of contentious and non-contentious housing matters, represent the client in court and hearings, and lead complex cases from instruction to resolution.

The role requires extensive in-house housing experience, particularly in contentious work, and involves managing external counsel and budgets while ensuring compliance with the SRA Code of Conduct.

Qualifications

• Prior in‑house legal team experience within a housing association, local authority housing team or private practice team specialising in social housing.
• Extensive experience in handling contentious work for housing associations.

Responsibilities

• Manage a mixed caseload of contentious and non‑contentious housing work including leasehold management, possession and possession prevention, access injunctions, service charge disputes, disrepair and related litigation.
• Represent the business at court, tribunal and other hearings where required.
• Lead on complex cases from instruction to resolution, including instructing and managing external counsel and counsel budgets.
• Maintain compliance with the Solicitors Regulation Authority Code of Conduct and support the Head of Legal in governance, risk and legal reporting.
