Job summary

Michael Page is assisting a not-for-profit organisation based in High Wycombe in recruiting an interim litigation lawyer with housing expertise. The role involves managing a mixed caseload across contentious and non-contentious housing work, including leasehold issues, possession and service charge disputes, and related litigation.

You will represent the organisation at court and tribunals, lead on complex cases from instruction to resolution, and coordinate with external counsel and budgets

Qualifications

  • In-house experience in housing associations or local authority housing teams.
  • Extensive experience handling contentious housing work.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a mixed caseload of housing work including leasehold, possession, access injunctions, service charges and disrepair.
  • Represent the business at court, tribunals and hearings as required.
  • Lead on complex cases from instruction to resolution and manage external counsel budgets.
  • Maintain compliance with the SRA Code of Conduct and support governance, risk and legal reporting.

Description
  • Manage a mixed caseload of contentious and non‑contentious housing work including leasehold management, possession and possession prevention, access injunctions, service charge disputes, disrepair and related litigation.
  • Represent the business at court, tribunal and other hearings where required.
  • Lead on complex cases from instruction to resolution, including instructing and managing external counsel and counsel budgets.
  • Maintain compliance with the Solicitors Regulation Authority Code of Conduct and support the Head of Legal in governance, risk and legal reporting.
Profile

A successful Interim Lawyer should have:

  • Prior in‑house legal team experience within a housing association, local authority housing team or private practice team specialising in social housing.
  • Extensive experience in handling contentious work for housing associations.
