Job summary

Venn Group’s specialist legal team is recruiting a Locum Information Governance/Data Protection Officer to join a Local Authority in the West Midlands on an interim basis. The role is hybrid and initially for 3 months, with a rate of up to £40 per hour umbrella, depending on experience.

The position focuses on FOI/EIR requests, UK GDPR compliance, DPIAs, and data sharing governance. You will review responses, advise on risk, and strengthen information governance controls across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in Information Governance within the public sector.
• Strong knowledge of Data Protection legislation, FOI and SAR processes.
• Experience advising on DPIAs and ROPA.
• Ability to provide clear, practical advice and manage a varied workload independently.

Responsibilities

• Clearing a backlog of FOI, EIR, and UK GDPR requests
• Conducting internal reviews of FOI and EIR responses
• Supporting lawful and transparent data use through the development and review of data sharing agreements and privacy notices
• Investigating data breaches, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to strengthen information governance and reduce future risk
