Job summary

NRL is seeking an experienced HSE Manager (COMAH Experienced) to join a major engineering EPC contract on a full-time, permanent basis. The hybrid role combines on-site work at Grangemouth with remote working, delivering safety leadership across the project team.

You will oversee QHSE, liaise with regulators, conduct risk assessments and audits, and drive continuous improvement while ensuring compliance with COMAH and industry standards.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in an HSE leadership or management role.
• Strong understanding of HSE legislation and industry standards within engineering or EPC environments.
• Comprehensive knowledge and experience of COMAH regulations and compliance.
• Skilled in audits, incident investigations and development of HSE strategies.
• Excellent communication and engagement skills with all levels of stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the QHSE function to ensure compliance with company, industry, and statutory standards
• Act as HSE representative at project level, providing support and expert advice to teams and stakeholders
• Support project leadership in planning and implementing HSE objectives in line with contractual requirements
• Liaise with regulatory bodies, external agencies, and industry groups
• Monitor compliance with HSE regulations and gather, analyse and report safety statistics
• Conduct risk assessments, audits and ensure robust control measures are in place
• Develop and lead HSE audits and investigations, identifying root causes and corrective actions
• Distribute safety alerts, action plans and implement effective induction programmes for new personnel
• Drive a positive HSE culture and continuous improvement across all project activities
