Job summary

Haskoning UK Engineering Design team is seeking a Highway Engineer to work on diverse highway and infrastructure design projects. You will be part of a multidisciplinary group delivering concept through to construction-ready designs, with a focus on sustainable mobility and client advisory support.

You will engage in design standards, environmental considerations, and stakeholder management while contributing to documentation and project progression within a hybrid working model.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering detailed highway/infrastructure designs through technical approvals.
• Experience with Section 278 and Section 38 submissions; awareness of Section 104/106 water industry agreements.
• Knowledge of DMRB, Manual for Streets, LTN 1/20 and related design guidance.
• Ability to contribute to client advice within project scope and quality standards.
• Ability to work autonomously within a team, delivering to timescales and budgets.

Responsibilities

• Guide clients through concept, planning, and preliminary design stages for feasible, sustainable projects.
• Advise on design standards, environmental concerns, and stakeholder needs to prepare layouts and cost-effective solutions.
• Develop approved concepts into construction-ready detailed designs meeting safety and compliance standards.
• Prepare detailed drainage designs and schedules for tender and construction.
• Provide hands-on management, oversight, and clear communications across all parties.
• Conduct road safety audits and inspections to identify hazards and improvements.
