Job summary

Suffolk County Council is seeking a Remediation Officer within the Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service Protection Team. You will lead remediation efforts for tall buildings and high-risk residential premises, ensuring compliance with fire safety legislation and best practice across Suffolk.

You will assess strategies, review engineering solutions, and provide expert guidance to housing providers, developers and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Act as a specialist officer for remediation projects, tall buildings, and higher-risk residential premises.
• Assess remediation strategies and fire safety improvement programmes for compliance.
• Review fire engineering solutions and building safety measures.
• Conduct fire safety inspections, audits, and assessments across premises.
• Evaluate fire risk assessments and adequacy of safety arrangements.
• Provide specialist advice to housing providers, developers, businesses and owners.
• Support investigations and enforcement activities where needed.
• Collaborate with building control bodies and partner agencies.
• Deliver presentations and awareness sessions to promote fire safety.
• Contribute to policy development and professional standards.
