Job summary

tmGroup is seeking a Financial Accountant to join the Finance team in Swindon. The role is hybrid—3 days in the Swindon office, 2 days work-from-home—with study support for ACCA/ACA and exposure to group reporting and year-end processes.

You'll work under the Group Financial Controller, contribute to statutory accounting, and gain hands-on experience with the billing engine, intercompany reconciliation, and controls improvements in a PE-backed environment.

Qualifications

• Part-qualified accountant with audit or practice background.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge under UK GAAP (FRS 102) with IFRS understanding.
• Experience coordinating external audits, in practice or in-house.
• Solid understanding of financial controls andReconcilation disciplines.
• Detail-oriented with an investigative approach to numbers.
• Clear, proactive communicator within team and wider business.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced PE-backed environment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate external audit with Group Financial Controller and respond to auditors' queries.
• Prepare audit files for statutory statements, including intercompany accounting and accounting disclosures.
• Assist month-end processes such as intercompany reconciliations and consolidation preparation.
• Assess new or unusual transactions and key judgements—revenue recognition, accruals, provisions.
• Keep up to date with changes in accounting standards and flag impacts to the team.
• Maintain and improve the financial controls framework and support remediation.
• Collaborate with Finance, Search Production and Tech teams for aligned reporting and investigate discrepancies in billing.
• Support VAT returns and other statutory reporting; work with Systems Accountant on finance system changes.
