Job summary

Cancer Research UK is seeking a Finance Manager to join our Finance team in Stratford, London, with hybrid working (office 1-2 days/week). The role reports to the Senior Finance Manager and leads budgeting, forecasting and financial planning for a multi‑hundred million pound scope.

The ideal candidate is a qualified accountant with extensive FP&A and management accounting experience, strong stakeholder engagement, and proven ability to influence strategic decisions.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent.
• Significant experience in Finance Business Partnering, FP&A, Strategic Finance or Management Accounting.
• Strong financial planning, forecasting, modelling and reporting experience.
• Proven ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to turn complex data into clear, actionable insight.
• Strong communication skills to explain financial information to non-finance audiences.
• Experience working effectively within a matrix environment.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Directors and senior stakeholders to provide financial insight, analysis and decision support.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and long‑term financial planning activities for designated business areas.
• Develop financial models, business cases and scenario analysis to support strategic decision‑making.
• Deliver meaningful financial reporting, identifying trends, risks, opportunities and future implications.
• Challenge and influence stakeholders to improve financial understanding and support effective decision‑making.
• Build strong relationships across the organisation and support delivery of the Finance Strategy.
• Coach and support Finance Analysts and Management Accountants through matrix management and mentoring.
• Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, reporting and analysis.
