Job summary

Slough Children First is recruiting a permanent social worker for its Family Help Service, combining assessment and safeguarding. The role involves direct work with children and families from initial assessment through longer-term intervention, building plans around family strengths and coordinating with partner agencies in a hybrid working pattern.

The post requires Social Work England registration, a recognised social work qualification, and experience in children's social care.

Responsibilities

• Undertake Family Help assessments with children and families.
• Work directly with children and families from assessment through to longer-term intervention.
• Develop plans that build on family strengths.
• Coordinate support and work with partner agencies to achieve sustainable change.
• Manage a varied caseload including children in need, child protection, pre-proceedings and care proceedings.
• Keep children safe while promoting family resilience and independence.
• Understand children's lived experiences and make sure their voices are heard.
• Deliver interventions that help families overcome challenges.
• Contribute to continuous improvement, reflective practice and development of the service.
