Job summary

National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED) seeks a Commercial Projects Lead – Distribution to join the East Midlands team, reporting to a Commercial Projects Manager. The role supports delivering a diverse portfolio of network interventions, balancing value for money with safety and resilience.

You will work with supply chain partners, manage proactive and reactive interventions, and ensure delivery on safety, time, cost, and quality while driving innovation and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Proven track record delivering transformation and continuous improvement in project or commercial environments.
• Experience in a regulated industry preferred or ability to quickly acquire knowledge.
• C&G Level 3 / NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in electrical, construction, project management, or utilities.
• Strong understanding of Health & Safety regs (CDM, ESQCR, Electricity at Work Regulations).

Responsibilities

• Champion a strong safety culture and minimise harm to the public, colleagues and partners.
• Ensure all interventions comply with legal and regulatory standards.
• Support delivery of the commercial projects programme within schedules and baselines.
• Balance proactive and reactive interventions across the portfolio.
• Contribute to delivering projects within budget and improve efficiency and value for money.
• Monitor quality through inspections and manage supplier performance.
• Deliver excellent customer outcomes, minimising disruption and customer minutes lost.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with delivery partners and NGED values.
• Communicate effectively with senior leaders and key stakeholders.
