Job summary

Astellas is seeking a Development Scientist to participate in strategy development for clinical programs and lead study activities within the division. The role partners with the Global Medical Lead, Operations Lead, and Medical Monitor to design, implement, monitor, and analyze clinical studies across modalities.

Independent contributors with strong scientific expertise will drive protocol development, site management, and regulatory submissions while supporting publications and collaborations

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in a relevant scientific discipline or health science with extensive experience.
• Knowledge of clinical drug development and regulatory submissions (INDs/NDAs).
• Experience in scientific research or clinical practice and data interpretation.
• Strong collaboration and communication across multiple departments.
• Willingness to travel ~25%, sometimes internationally.

Responsibilities

• Lead activities for current and planned clinical trials on assigned programs.
• Provide cross-functional scientific input to facilitate decisions and planning.
• Support development plans, site identification and management, and regulatory interactions.
• Monitor data, generate reports, and contribute to publications and scientific communications.
• Partner with external experts and internal teams to enable appropriate enrollment and study execution.
