Job summary

Cobb & Jones Recruitment Limited in West Malling, offering hybrid working, seeks a Deputy Group Financial Controller who will own management accounting, head office accounting, group balance sheet control, forecasting and accounts payable.

You will lead a team of functional leads, uphold strong controls and audit trails, drive improvements, and provide clear insight into financial and operational performance for the group.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
• Experience consolidating management accounts and balance sheet ownership
• Experience leading finance teams including managers or leads
• Experience owning rolling forecasts and variance analysis
• Experience overseeing accounts payable controls
• Strong Excel skills and ERP ledger governance
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication with operational leaders
• Highly organised with a structured approach to deliverables and KPIs

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and performance-manage functional leads to operate independently within the control framework
• Depuitise for the Group Financial Controller as required
• Ensure processes have named owners and audit trails
• Create and enforce processes, policies, reconciliations and internal controls
• Set reporting rhythms (weekly, monthly, quarterly) and track KPIs
• Oversee monthly management accounts consolidation and balance sheet
• Lead quarterly balance sheet reviews and year-end readiness
• Oversee ledger governance and external audit support
• Own rolling forecast and annual planning cycle
• Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure evidence-based forecasts
