ALS Recruiting Ltd is seeking an experienced Customs Clerk in Birmingham to manage Ocean Freight Customs Clearance from start to finish. This role includes processing customs declarations, ensuring compliance with HMRC, and managing documentation. Ideal candidates will have experience in freight forwarding, understanding of customs procedures, and attention to detail. The position offers a hybrid working model - 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Customs Clerk in freight forwarding or logistics.
• Proficiency with customs systems such as CDS and Cargowise would be a bonus.
• Understanding of commodity codes, duties, VAT, and trade agreements.

Responsibilities

• Process import and export customs declarations for Sea freight.
• Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations and customs requirements.
• Liaise with freight forwarders, carriers, and government agencies.
• Manage customs documentation and duty/VAT calculations.
• Stay up to date with CDS, CHIEF, and industry regulations.
• Provide customer updates and resolve customs-related queries.
