Job summary

ORONA in Sheffield is seeking a motivated Credit Controller to join our finance team. The role offers hybrid working and a flexible 4-day-per-week option, ideal for balancing workload with personal commitments.

You will manage outstanding debts, perform credit checks, negotiate payment plans, and produce debt and cash-flow reports. Strong communication and detail orientation are essential to build customer relationships and minimise credit risk.

Qualifications

• Previous Credit Control or finance experience is desirable, but not essential
• Someone who is genuinely interested in making Credit Control their career
• Strong communication and negotiation skills
• Confident speaking with customers and handling payment-related conversations
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good knowledge of MS Office; experience with accounting software is advantageous
• A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop

Responsibilities

• Chasing outstanding debts from customers by telephone, email and letter
• Building positive relationships with customers and negotiating payment plans where required
• Assessing credit applications and carrying out credit checks
• Resolving customer queries relating to invoices and payments
• Monitoring customer accounts and following up overdue balances
• Preparing reports on debtors, collections and cash flow
• Working closely with the wider finance team to minimise credit risk and improve cash collection
