Job summary

Railpen is seeking a Controls Assurance Specialist to join the Assurance and Standards team in Darlington, with hybrid working (2 days a week in- office). You will test controls across Member Services, produce assurance reports and MI, and use data-led insights to identify risks and drive improvements.

You'll collaborate with Risk, Compliance and Internal Audit to maintain a robust control environment and support governance activities.

Qualifications

• Experience in financial services or similar environment.
• Experience in controls assurance, risk, compliance, governance or audit.
• Strong data interpretation and trend identification abilities.
• Experience producing reports, MI and business insights.
• Advanced Excel skills with data handling capabilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience in pensions administration or pension-related setting.
• Knowledge of controls assurance frameworks and methodologies.
• Familiarity with Power BI or similar dashboard tools.
• Exposure to workflow or case management systems and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Test controls across Member Services to verify effectiveness and outcomes.
• Produce assurance reports, management information and insights.
• Analyze data and assurance results to spot trends and improvement opportunities.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to review processes and implement improvements.
• Support the introduction and embedding of new controls in assurance activities.
• Work with Risk, Compliance and Internal Audit to maintain a strong control environment.
