Job summary

Railpen is seeking a Controls Assurance Specialist in Darlington (hybrid, 2 days in the office per week). You will test controls across Member Services, produce assurance reports, and provide data‑led insights to strengthen governance.

You’ll work with risk, compliance and internal audit to maintain a robust control environment and support continuous improvement. You’ll collaborate across the business to review processes, discuss findings and implement improvements, with a focus on embedding new

Qualifications

• Experience in financial services environments.
• Experience in controls assurance, risk, compliance, governance, or audit.
• Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret data and identify trends.
• Experience producing reports, MI and business insights.
• Advanced Excel skills and confidence with data.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management, including presenting findings clearly.
• Ability to balance constructive challenge with collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Test controls across Member Services to assess operating effectiveness.
• Produce assurance reports, management information and insights for decision making and governance.
• Analyze data and assurance outcomes to identify trends and opportunities.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to review processes, discuss findings and implement improvements.
