Job summary

Edge Careers is seeking an experienced Buyer for a Worcester-based, office-based role with optional WFH. You will procure materials, plant, equipment and subcontract services, aiming for best cost, quality and on-time delivery across projects.

Key duties include supplier negotiation, quotation analysis, PO management and strong collaboration with project and commercial teams to meet budgets and timelines.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' experience in a Buyer/Procurement role.
• Experience within the construction sector.
• Strong understanding of construction materials and suppliers.
• Proven experience negotiating prices and terms.
• Analysing quotations to identify best-value options.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
• Commercially aware with proactive problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Manage procurement of materials, equipment, plant and subcontract services.
• Source and negotiate with suppliers to achieve competitive pricing.
• Obtain, review and compare quotations.
• Place and manage purchase orders.
• Develop and maintain supplier relationships.
• Monitor lead times and ensure timely delivery.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and operations teams.
• Assist with procurement planning and budgets.
• Identify cost savings and commercial opportunities.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms and delivery schedules.
• Monitor supplier performance and resolve procurement issues.
• Maintain procurement records and documentation.
• Ensure purchasing activity follows processes and procedures.
• Assist with onboarding of new suppliers.
• Manage multiple procurement requirements and deadlines.
