Job summary

Hackajob Ltd in Manchester is seeking a Cloud Security Engineer to design, build and operate secure, cloud-native solutions for our Security Operations Centre capabilities. You will deploy secure AWS architectures using IaC and promote security best practices across engineering teams.

You will collaborate with SOC functions, incident response, threat detection, and automation initiatives, with opportunities to grow through training, certifications, and a supportive, inclusive culture that values

Qualifications

• Talented Cloud Engineers with AWS and cloud security background.
• Experience with AWS security services and cloud security best practices (identity, monitoring, threat detection, data protection).
• Understanding of Security Operations, monitoring, incident response, SIEM (Microsoft Sentinel or Splunk).
• Strong IAM knowledge and least-privilege principles.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK).
• Experience with monitoring/observability tools (CloudWatch, Grafana, Prometheus).
• Container orchestration knowledge (Kubernetes, Amazon ECS, OpenShift) including container security.
• Networking fundamentals for cloud software-defined networking.
• Config management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
• Scripting in Python, Bash, or Go.
• Interest in AI and cybersecurity technologies.
• Excellent troubleshooting and collaboration mindset.
• AWS certifications desirable but not essential; training provided.
• Right to live and work in the UK; readiness for SC clearance and Developed Vetting.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain secure cloud-native solutions for SOC capabilities.
• Develop and deploy cloud infrastructure with Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK.
• Design and implement secure AWS architectures meeting security/compliance needs.
• Build and maintain security monitoring, alerting, and automated responses.
• Integrate cloud platforms with security tooling including SIEM like Microsoft Sentinel/Splunk.
• Leverage AWS security services and promote security best practices across teams.
• Support incident response investigations, threat hunting, and security improvement initiatives.
• Develop reusable implementation patterns, standards, and automation for security across projects.
• Manage software configuration, source code repositories, and CI/CD pipelines per DevSecOps.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver secure, innovative cloud solutions.
• Identify opportunities to leverage AI/automation to enhance security operations.
• For Senior Engineers, lead technical delivery and mentor engineers.
