Job summary

WSP seeks a Principal Consultant to lead CDM and construction safety services across complex, high-value projects in the UK. The role requires ownership of Principal Designer duties, engagement with clients and design teams, and robust health and safety risk management throughout the project lifecycle.

You will shape CDM delivery across projects with influence from RIBA Stages 2–5, contributing to service growth. Hybrid working with flexible benefits supports your development at WSP.

Qualifications

• Experience in a CDM/construction safety role, including leading PD appointments.
• Knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015 and practical application.
• Experience undertaking/leading Principal Designer duties under Building Safety Act.
• Understanding of design processes and RIBA stages, influencing development.

Responsibilities

• Lead CDM / PD delivery on projects or programmes.
• Chair design risk workshops, coordination meetings and project reviews.
• Provide technical oversight and quality assurance across outputs.
• Mentor junior and senior consultants; drive service delivery improvements.
• Support proposals, scopes and fee submissions.
