Job summary

Essex County Council is seeking a highly motivated Built Heritage Consultant to join the Historic Environment team in Chelmsford. The role is permanent and full-time with hybrid working; you will base yourself in the Chelmsford office at least one day per week and work across our operational area as required.

You will contribute to technical delivery of built heritage specialist work, provide conservation advice to local planning authorities, and undertake a variety of projects across a broad

Qualifications

Postgraduate level in building conservation or related discipline with built heritage experience.
IHBC full membership or working towards.
At least two years' built heritage experience.

Responsibilities

Provide conservation advice to local planning authorities through written responses and meetings (including on site and virtually).
Produce conservation area appraisals and design guidance.
Collaborate with archaeology and our Natural and Built Environment teams.
Prepare Built Heritage Statements, Heritage Impact Assessments and Conservation Management Plans.
Deliver a wide range of built heritage project work across our operational area.
