Job summary

Bennett and Game Recruitment LTD is seeking an experienced bookkeeper for a practice-based role in the Birmingham area. The role focuses on VAT returns and day-to-day bookkeeping using Xero, Sage and QuickBooks, with hybrid working options and a supportive team environment.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years in practice, an AAT Level 3/4, and strong organisational and communication skills. The position emphasizes a dedicated bookkeeping focus rather than accounts preparation.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of accountancy practice experience.
• AAT Level 3 or 4 qualification preferred.
• Hands-on experience with Xero, Sage and QuickBooks is mandatory.
• Strong VAT knowledge and submissions.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of VAT returns for a growing client portfolio.
• Perform day-to-day bookkeeping duties for clients.
• Help move clients to cloud-based software.
• Liaise with clients to resolve bookkeeping queries and collect records.
• Collaborate with the team to meet all deadlines.
