Job summary

VodafoneThree is seeking a talented Big Data Engineer in the UK to design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines powering analytics, ML, and AI-driven decisions. You will collaborate with Data Scientists, DataOps, and DevOps to ensure data reliability and security across platforms.

You’ll work on transforming data at scale, improving data quality, and enabling personalized customer insights. The role blends hands-on engineering with cross-functional collaboration and agile delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience with SQL and/or Python to assess and improve data quality.
• Ability to develop scalable data pipelines with Spark, PySpark, Hive, and BigQuery.
• Extensive experience with large codebases and Git-based workflows (GitHub, GitLab, Gitflow, EnvFlow).
• Proficiency with development tools such as PyCharm, VS Code, Bash or Zsh.
• Hands-on with notebook tools (Jupyter, Zeppelin, Google Datalab) for analysis and prototyping.
• Experience with cloud-based Big Data platforms (AWS, GCP).
• Comfortable in Agile environments (Scrum/Kanban).
• Understanding of software and data lifecycle management; collaborative, knowledge-sharing.]

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable data ingestion pipelines.
• Collaborate with Data Engineers, Data Scientists, DataOps, and DevOps to ensure data availability and quality.
• Monitor and improve data quality; resolve issues to maintain trusted datasets.
• Develop and optimize large-scale data processing solutions for high data volumes.
• Create and maintain clear documentation and defensive programming practices.
• Contribute to agile delivery and sprint commitments; support teammates to achieve goals.
• Partner with stakeholders to deliver data-driven solutions for insights and marketing.
• Support adoption of Agentic AI frameworks for AI-powered data engineering use cases.
• Improve performance, resilience, and transparency of the Big Data ecosystem.
