Job summary

First Central Services UK Ltd is seeking a Data Engineer to design and build scalable data pipelines, govern data quality, and deliver analytics-ready solutions. You will work across data lake and data warehouse environments, applying ETL best practices and CI/CD within an agile, hybrid setup that supports collaboration across Haywards Heath, Salford Quays, and Guernsey.

You’ll use PySpark, Python, SQL, and Azure-based tools to implement end-to-end data solutions, mentor junior engineers, and

Qualifications

Requires experience designing and building end-to-end data solutions (2-5 years).
Experience with SQL Server and/or Azure Data Factory/Synapse and ETL technologies.
Experience with large, event-based datasets in an enterprise environment.
Proven communicator with ability to build rapport.
Experience with CI/CD and agile environments.

Responsibilities

Develop low to high complexity, secure, governed data pipelines from multiple data sources.
Ensure data is cleansed, mapped, transformed and optimised for storage and use cases.
Incorporate data observability and quality by design into pipelines.
Build data lake, data warehouse and BI artefacts across BI tooling.
Design physical data models to meet business needs and optimise storage.
Perform unit tests and peer testing to assure quality.
Maintain documentation for pipelines and code.
Follow standards, architecture, and release processes for quality and security.
Coach Associate data engineers.
