Talk Recruitment presents an exciting opportunity for an experienced Bid Manager / Preconstruction Project Manager in the West Midlands.

The role encompasses leading two-stage tenders, managing internal and external resources, and delivering bids on time, within budget and to high quality standards. A background in construction, strong leadership, and UK main contractor experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the building sector and construction processes.
• Experience as Bid Manager or related role (Preconstruction PM/Design Manager/QS/Planner).
• Experience with two-stage/negotiated tenders and large projects.

Responsibilities

• Report to Preconstruction Manager and lead bid processes.
• Lead two-stage/negotiated tenders for projects £10m–£100m across sectors.
• Ensure costs align with scope, customer requirements and regulations.
• Collaborate with preconstruction team to secure tender opportunities.
• Create robust cost plans through design gateways to target price.
• Guide design team and communicate affordability to clients.
• Identify risks and value-add opportunities using technical experience.
• Value alternative design solutions and present to customer for review.
• Support change control and track design changes through RIBA stages.
• Carry out take-offs to required detail and provide cost information packs.
