Job summary

Morson Human Resources Limited in Manchester City Centre is recruiting an experienced Assistant Buyer on a contract basis for an initial term running asap to February/March 2027 with potential extension. The role involves ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement to support rail maintenance operations in a hybrid working pattern (3 days in office, 2 from home).

You will manage end-to-end purchasing, supplier relationships and ERP data, drive TCO considerations, and support ongoing

Qualifications

• Proven experience in procurement, purchasing or buying.
• Experience in rail, transportation, engineering or manufacturing.
• Strong supplier performance management skills.
• Commercial awareness and cost-control understanding.
• Excellent communication with stakeholders at all levels.
• Strong organisation and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Receive requisitions and convert to purchase orders.
• Maintain material availability and supplier relationships.
• Source parts from approved suppliers and evaluate quotations.
• Monitor delivery dates and mitigate supply risks.
• Lead supplier negotiations and drive cost savings.
• Maintain ERP records and purchase order status.
• Expedite POs to ensure on-time delivery.
• Support supplier performance reporting.
