Job summary

Confidential in Peterborough is seeking an Accounts Assistant / Accounts Payable Assistant for a 3-month hybrid contract. You will support the Finance Manager with daily accounts duties, including supplier invoices, payments and reconciliations, while maintaining strong control over banking transactions.

The role requires accuracy, organisation and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a busy finance environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in Accounts Assistant or similar finance role.
• Understanding of banking processes and accounting systems.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Process bank receipts and payments and ledger postings.
• Manage deposit accounts and fund allocations.
• Check CHAPS/BACS payments and reconcile postings.
• Maintain supplier accounts and process invoices.
• Support accounts payable workflow including approvals and payments.
• Liaise with banks, suppliers and internal teams.
• Handle petty cash and respond to generic inquiries.
• Assist with internal controls and process improvements.
