Abbeygate Search is seeking an Accounts Assistant for a London-based accountancy practice. You will support bookkeeping, accounts preparation and VAT for a range of small business clients, with a varied workload and deadlines.

Qualifications

• You have prior experience in an accountancy practice and can manage deadlines with accuracy.
• Strong attention to detail and organised approach are essential.
• Experience using Xero, Sage or QuickBooks would be useful in daily tasks.

Responsibilities

• Maintain client bookkeeping records and ledgers (sales, purchases, nominal).
• Prepare accounts and VAT returns for various entity types (sole traders, partnerships, limited companies).
• Process journals and support management accounts work.
• Coordinate with colleagues and external providers on partnership tax returns.
