Job summary

Westmorland and Furness Council is seeking an Accounting Technician (Internal) to join the Children’s Social Care Finance Team. The role provides financial support, advises on budgets and ensures expenditure aligns with grant conditions where applicable.

Qualifications

• Accounting qualification such as AAT or equivalent.
• Experience with financial systems and budgets.
• Experience with ledger maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Provide financial management information to support budget setting, budget monitoring and the closure of accounts
• Maintain the general ledger, including posting journals and virements, in line with Financial Regulations and schemes of delegation
• Support the Principal Finance Officer to produce financial reports and information to support decision-making by the local authority
• Support the development and use of IT solutions to improve and standardise financial management processes
• Work flexibly within the Children and Family Wellbeing Finance Team, supporting different elements of the service as required
