Job summary

Contract Scotland is seeking an experienced HSE Advisor to join a major HVDC infrastructure project in Scotland. This site-based role supports the delivery and installation of 525kV cable systems, ensuring high standards of health, safety and environmental performance on site.

You will work closely with site management and contractors, conducting safety inductions, risk assessments and inspections, and promoting proactive safety practices across onshore activities.

Qualifications

• This role requires several years' experience as an HSE Advisor or in a similar site-based role.
• Experience in construction, civil engineering, energy, utilities or major infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of RAMS, risk assessments, site inspections, toolbox talks and incident investigations.
• Good knowledge of UK HSE legislation.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day HSE support and guidance across site activities.
• Act as a visible and proactive safety presence on site.
• Monitor contractor and subcontractor HSE performance and compliance.
• Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks and safety briefings.
• Support risk assessments, HAZID/HAZOP workshops and emergency drills.
• Review and monitor RAMS, method statements and permit-to-work requirements.
• Conduct site inspections, safety walks and environmental checks.
• Support HSE audits and incident and near-miss investigations.
• Monitor compliance with UK HSE legislation and project-specific requirements.
• Track corrective actions, HSE KPIs and reporting.
• Work closely with Site Management, Installation teams and the wider HSE function.
