Job summary

Hitachi Energy in Birmingham is seeking a Project Planner to lead the planning, scheduling and control of delivery projects across the full lifecycle, from tendering through commissioning. You will own integrated schedules, monitor progress, perform critical path analyses and develop recovery plans with stakeholders.

The role requires an engineering degree and experience in EPC or energy projects, with Primavera P6 proficiency and strong communication skills for cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience as a Project Planner in EPC/energy or similar.
• Understanding of logical sequencing and interfacing of project execution activities in EPC projects.
• Experience developing and maintaining integrated project schedules for complex multidisciplinary projects.
• Experience using Primavera P6 is preferred.
• Experience monitoring project execution schedules and progress throughout all phases.
• Knowledge of HVDC or large infrastructure projects would be advantageous.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyse project requirements with the project team to develop detailed schedules.
• Define project work breakdown structures and baseline schedules.
• Develop, maintain and monitor project schedules across all phases.
• Monitor progress with critical path and float analysis to identify risks.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to develop recovery plans and mitigations.
• Lead schedule reviews with project stakeholders for alignment and commitment.
• Perform schedule quality reviews against standards and governance.
• Issue progress reports and look-ahead forecasts regularly.
• Support tendering activities through schedule development, planning deliverables and risk assessments.
• Establish project baselines and support start-up and planning activities.
• Coordinate with suppliers and third parties to ensure realistic plans.
• Support risk and change assessments through schedule impact analysis.
• Promote planning best practices and continuous improvement.
