Job summary

SSE is seeking an HVDC Project Engineer based in Scotland (Glasgow, Aberdeen or Inverness) to join the HVDC Engineering team within SSEN Transmission. You will support major HVDC infrastructure projects pivotal to the UK's energy transition, collaborating with a diverse range of technical specialists and project teams.

Applicants should have a degree or equivalent in engineering, with experience in HVDC, power transmission or related environments, and strong technical and stakeholder management

Qualifications

• A degree, HND or equivalent experience in electrical or mechanical engineering.
• Experience in project engineering, ideally HVDC or power transmission.
• Knowledge of electrical plant or HVDC systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management across teams.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate design assurance activities and support project governance and stage-gate documentation.
• Review contractor deliverables for main plant equipment and auxiliary systems for compliance with technical and quality requirements.
• Collaborate with technical authorities and engineering specialists to facilitate review and approval of deliverables.
• Attend factory acceptance testing (FAT) and support commissioning activities to ensure equipment performs as intended.
• Promote a positive safety culture and support management of engineering, quality and project risks throughout the lifecycle.
