Job summary
GE Vernova – Grid Solutions in Stafford seeks a Power Electronics Engineer to join the HVDC Valve Converter team. You will design, model and validate power converter topologies (VSC, MMC, LCC) for HVDC and FACTS applications, and contribute to development and customer projects with international collaboration.
This role offers international travel, exposure to high voltage power electronics and IGBT/thyristor systems, and opportunities to grow with an internationally recognised expert in the
Qualifications
- Degree in an Engineering field with experience in design, development and validation of power converters.
- Proficiency with modelling software (MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, Psim, LTSpice, PSCAD) for HVDC applications.
- Experience in commissioning projects and delivering power electronic solutions for industrial/transmission grids.
- Excellent English communication, both written and spoken.
Responsibilities
- Generate project documentation (type test specs/reports, design reports).
- Validate key component ratings and perform RAM/loss calculations.
- Design, model, analyze and validate power electronics for HVDC/FACTS converters.
- Collaborate with other engineering teams for product definition and testing.
- Support site activities during installation, pre-commissioning and testing.
