Job summary

GE Vernova invites a Control Software Engineer to join the HVDC control systems team in the UK. You will drive requirements, design, development and maintenance of control and protection software across LCC and VSC HVDC schemes throughout the full SDLC.

You will be part of the Product Care function, maintaining software, platform, and lifecycle processes, including obsolescence handling and communicating with customers and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or proven equivalent knowledge in HVDC business.
• Experience with event and rate driven control software for protections.
• Understand interactions between AC and HVDC systems.
• Knowledge of PSCAD and MATLAB-SIMULINK simulation tools.
• Familiar with Agile software development practices.
• Experience using Git, Jira and Confluence for version control and documentation.
• Strong written and verbal communication and a can-do attitude.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for requirements, design, implementation and testing of HVDC control and protection software.
• Work in an expert team to learn and develop control and protection system skills.
• Execute analysis, simulation, testing and integration for assigned components.
• Apply experience and training to solve problems and discuss solutions with guidance.
• Participate actively in continuous improvement activities.
