Job summary

Carnival UK is seeking a HVAC/Ventilation Officer to manage and maintain the ship's ventilation, main AC water chillers and domestic refrigeration systems across luxury vessels. You will visit multiple locations, solve problems hands-on, and lead a ventilation team to meet safety and service standards.

The role requires refrigeration qualifications and proven industry experience, plus strong English communication.

Qualifications

  • Refrigeration qualification (City and Guilds or NVQ3) desirable.
  • Solid proven experience in refrigeration industry desirable.
  • Management of team with varying levels of experience.
  • Good command of written and spoken English; Marlins English test of Proficiency may be applicable.
  • F-gas certificated.
  • Valid ENG1 medical certificate or equivalent for the duration of each voyage.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain the ship's ventilation and main AC water chillers and domestic refrigeration plant to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Support the Electro-Technical department in delivering the asset management plan and developing the ventilation team.
  • Build leadership skills by supervising junior officers, cadets and technicians.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and passengers, adapting style to the situation.
  • Ensure work is prioritised, supervised, and carried out to current safety and company regulations.

Managing and maintaining the ship's ventilation, main AC water chiller systems and domestic refrigeration plant to make sure our luxury ships are as safe and efficient as possible, you'll visit different places, explore new worlds and gain experiences that stay with you for a lifetime. Flexing your ventilation expertise, we'll look to you to ensure defects are responded to quickly, and that work is prioritised and supervised and carried out safely, efficiently and in accordance with all current safety and company regulations. You will be supporting the Electro-Technical department in the maintenance and delivery of the asset management plan to ensure the ship technically meets the needs of the business whilst managing the development of the ventilation team. Building on your ventilation and refrigeration industry experience, you'll ideally have a relevant Refrigeration Qualification (i.e.) City and Guilds or NVQ3. You will be highly organised and calm under pressure, you'll also need to be comfortable talking to a wide range of people - from colleagues to passengers.   • Solid proven experience of working within the refrigeration industry is desirable

  • F-gas Certificated
  • Valid ENG1 medical certificate or equivalent for the duration of each voyage

Experience on board a cruise ship would be desirable, but not essential. We believe in hiring people with the right attitudes and strengths over their competencies.
